I am really loving my turbo charge – fuel up extra kick of energy these hemp hearts give me! Wow! Today’s First Breakfast:

Blueberry chobani + hemp hearts. This tasted great, and I know it will fuel me through a Very Important Conference Call I have at 10:am! Wish me luck that it all goes well! :) I am SO excited!

Last night’s birthday dinner for Jason was phenomenal. It was our first time at a popular Portland restaurant, Ten 01. Ten 01 is owned by Adam Berger, who also owns Tabla Mediterranean Bistro, which I love. The food is always amazing, the staff is over the top friendly, the attention to detail – brilliant.

So. We made a visit to valet, and were seated upstairs. This was our view as the sun went down:

Beautiful! I ordered my usual, Grey Goose + soda + two limes:

The amuse bouche  was a red pepper and crouton salad, which was delicious and so pretty:

For the appetizer, we ordered the prosciutto wrapped duck pate with pickled onion, cornichon and beet, + dijon and parisian toasts:

Great presentation without being… too much. Cornichons are my favorite… as are pickled onion…

For my entree, I chose the pan seared alaskan halibut with cous cous, fava beans, morels (YUM), toasted marcona almonds with a vanilla – saffron broth. This was amazing. I want it again Right Now:

Is that just beautiful? It was beautiful.

Jason chose the flank steak with crispy polenta, swiss chard + pickled chard stems:

This? So amazing. Delicious. This chef brilliantly matches flavors. We were astounded.

Before dessert, I took another photo of our same view, sundown:

I love our city. Portland is So Pretty.

My dessert! I chose the ricotta beignets + lemon curd… yum Yum YUM ! I loved this…

(… is that not a cute Blog Plate ??) Yes, I want that, too. :)

When I arranged tonight’s reservation, I told them it was Jason’s birthday…

So understated. Nothing was said or done until this:

It made us both happy! :) Jason ordered a popcorn ice cream (I know, right??) with raspberry float + caramel corn. Again, amazing flavors you don’t learn in any culinary school… the pastry chef is a genius! :)

Thank you, server Jonah. Thank you Chef Hanaghan, thank you Pastry Chef Jeff McCarthy. It was an amazing and wonderful evening that we very much enjoyed.

Thank you Nick Brandon for the correction. I appreciate it, and am humbled.

We will be back! :)

HA! Jason is from Missouri, and he is laughing right now – he said “I think that shirt is meant to be ironic – you can quote me” …as he’s still laughing. :)

I want it all!! I want the drinks, the halibut, the beignets–everything! I’ve only been to Portland once and it was pretty icky weather but I absolutely loved the city and the public transportation system y’all have.

hi Tonny, I hate to be the one to tell you this then – sadly the Ten 01 closed last year! it was one of our favorites too… the kind of place we went so often they knew us, you know? we were very disappointed and still miss it!
