sushi Sushi SUSHI
I could really eat it every day. Have I said that before?
Today’s sushi taste really great, but did not exactly go according to plan. I have been served brown rice sushi before, haven’t you?
Hmm. I used regular brown rice. It was fine, although for this recipe I really wanted to do an outside roll – impossible without sticky sushi rice. I’ll be trying this again very soon. I’m stubborn that way, thankyouverymuch Grandpa Z.
Still. The filling? Amazing. I could and did eat this by itself. This is what I used:
Tofu:
Green onion:
My favorite, sriracha:
I mixed the sriracha with vegenaise, added it to tofu + onion:
After mixing, I tasted, then added a bit more sriracha:
Vegan Sushi Filling:
one block tofu
2 tablespoons Vegenaise
5 tablespoons sriracha sauce – or to your heat level
5 green onions, chopped
I made a pot of brown rice.
I gave up my designs on having outside rolls.
I was going to make outside rolls, and coat them in this:
This stuff is amazing.
I will do the outside roll…
Tonight, with the brown rice, I rolled traditional. I covered the nori sheet with rice, then sprinkled furikake, then added the vegan filling:
The sun was setting as we enjoyed our sushi.
This was fabulously delicious.
I want to do it again, Right Now.
Happy Friday, everyone. Have a fabulous weekend.

Your sushi looks so pretty! The one time I tried to make sushi it was truly an epic fail. Maybe it’s time to put on my big girl pants and try again
You make this look so easy, but I’m pretty sure I would mess it up!
it is really pretty easy. sharp knife is key – more important than the rolling mat…
and it’s really fun!
You’ve impressed me yet again! And I smile every time you use Sriracha. We’re like Sriracha sisters. Obsessed.
These look so good. I want to make sushi rolls and have yet to get the nerve to try it – or buy all the stuff….
depending on what you make, it doesn’t have to be a lot of stuff to buy…
a SHARP knife is absolutely more important than having a rolling mat – you could roll without it, I think…
a package of nori / seaweed is inexpensive, and hopefully sort of easy to find if you have access to an asian market?
the thought of it is MUCH more daunting than making it!
and it’s FUN !
Holy yum! That sushi looks great!! I’ve tried making my own sushi before, but I need sharper knives lol I kept just smooshing it!!
hee – yes, sharp knives are key.
Thanks for checking out my blog! And you are brave to make your own sushi! I’ve always wanted to do that but I am too scared to try. Silly, I know…I could eat sushi every single day too.
That looks so freakin’ delish! I love sushi.
I was *thisclose* to buying sriracha last night at the grocery store, but somehow managed to talk myself out of it. Now I wish I had! x)
it is one of my favorite sauces.
just as you are one of my favorite blog friends.
AWWW !
Aww, thanks! x) Same goes back to you! <3
Yes, that looks delish!; and fun to make too.
and yes, you do get your stubborness (ouch, is
that a word?) from Grandpa Z…..Oooooh, the
fun memories…Stubborn is good! Hee….Love ya.
Ahhh! That looks so good. You are a Vegan master. Lars would love the sriracha.
Those look delicious-great job!
hmmm. what a great idea and spicy too. I just may have to try your vegan sushi.
I still have some 9.5 pounds of sushi rice to plow through…haha.
Thanks again for inspiring me to make it on my own!
you’re an adventurous cook! I’ve never eaten sushi…vegan or not!
That’s awesome that you made your own sushi! I want to learn how because that’s one thing I love but am super picky about…
I still prefer sushi with fish, but this is a good alternative for those who are vegan. Looks tasty, regardless.
I remember when you made these at the clinic – I have wanted them again ever since. Cheers
awesome – this looks great, thank you!
very inventive! your pics are gorgeous too!
we made this and I was so surprised how authentic it tastes, love it! the flavors are perfect.
yeah but does it TASTE like sushi???
ha! well, actually it kind of does! with the seaweed and the flakes, yep! the rice is exactly like sushi rice, the rice vinegar does it!
