a theme for the day

Today was a cool morning, so I went for an outside run. Prior to my run, I snacked on this and this:

I thought the flavors would go well together – they did. :)

I received a mixed case of Herbal Water to try, and so far I love it. As you drink, it tastes like water. It’s in the aftertaste where the flavor shows up, and it is subtle but tasty. The ginger lemon peel flavor was perfect with my lemon ginger Kardea bar.

Have you entered my Kardea giveaway? Scoot on over and enter – these bars are delicious! There are going to be TWO winners!

So my 30 minute run the other day was a fluke. I haven’t been able to run that long since – my knee starts to hurt. Well, it doesn’t really hurt – it’s that weird feeling I can only describe as unbearably uncomfortable. Today I lasted 21 minutes running, and walked another 30.

I brought half of this on my run – so excited to finally try this flavor!

Margarita Shot Blok! YUM!

I came home from my run, grabbed Basil and went for another walk up + down our street.

Then it was time for Second Breakfast. I am obsessed with these rice spinach wraps I recently found, and I was craving an egg. I got creative – I had sushi takeout the other night, and had some leftover tempura veggies. I chopped them up and added them to my scramble.

Oh my… this was SO good! I am definitely going to have to remember this the next time we have sushi – maybe order an extra tempura veggies for a scramble! Definitely tasty!

For dinner tonight, I went old school. I was craving grilled cheese + tomato soup. Wouldn’t you know, great minds think alike! Although Kaz actually made a great looking tomato bisque from scratch, while I opened a can. :) I did make some rice to add to my soup…  and the star of my show was the grilled cheese.

Spicy grilled cheese:

I made my sandwich with 2 slices of my millet bread, a little bit of Earth Balance, and a big slice of this nacho vegan cheese.

Melty and crunchy.

Dipped:

Dipped again:

It was perfect – and hit the spot. I always love grilled cheese and tomato soup.

It wasn’t planned. I didn’t notice it until I was uploading photos of my day. Can you figure out what the kinda common theme of the day is?

Happy Thursday, everyone! The weekend is almost here – weee!

Those herbal waters look wonderful. Sometimes I add fresh herbs to my water or seltzer for an added kick, but it’d be nice to have different ones to choose from. Thanks for sharing that company.

Oh I need to find that nacho cheese! It looks like it melted really well in your sandwich. Yum.

I haven’t tried those clif shot blocks, but I will have to now that I know there is a margarita flavor!

I love a good grilled cheese/tomato soup combo!

My left knee has been wonky in the past (not-so-nice pain after running) but I’ve made a few changes and have noticed that I’m not in so much pain anymore. First, I got new running shoes. Second, I stretch like crazy after my runs AND I ice up my knee. Sometimes I am running late and don’t have much time for this so if I grab an iced coffee on the way into work, I sit at my desk with my Starbucks cup up against my knee. Improvisation, baby. I highly recommend normal, non-Starbucks icing, though.

hee – Christina you are so funny… I’m happy you enjoyed ! my basic gf but butter cookie recipe is :

one cup almond butter
one cup sugar
one egg

and to yours I added two Heath toffee bars. …and as you know, it was about 3/4 cup almond + 1/4 cup peanut butters…

Sometimes I wish I had a Basil to take out for a walk – I imagine Billy and I will get a dog child one day. :)

Your grilled cheese looks scrumptious – just think how far we’ve come in terms of available foods…a gluten free, vegan grilled cheese. Who’d have thought?

I’m out… I’ll definitely be getting the spinach wraps again so I’ll let you know the brand…

I’m just getting back into running, after years of being “off” and some injuries… I used to (barefoot!) run all the time, and I ran hilly road races in my area – the Lake Oswego Lake Run 12K was my favorite – I ran it 4 or 5 years – very hilly! :)

…anyway, I’m just getting my endurance back up – SLOWLY since my knee and ankle (both previously injured) sometimes hurt. I’m still in the “can I really run?” phase… I don’t want to re-injure. I don’t have ANY time goals – I run as little or as long as I can – then walk to make it a workout. :) I also skip the knee circles on Jillian’s workouts…

Herbal Water is delicioso. And that Vegan Gourmet was a college favorite of mine. I’ve graduated to Daiya, but Vegan Gourmet will always hold a special place in my heart. :)

Oh and Flat Basil was a complete fail. Haha. Sorry. Sheldon was way too excited at Paws on Grand so I couldn’t even pull out the camera. Trust me, I had my hands full just making sure Sheldon didn’t start wrestling with all the other puppies!!

Vegan Gourmet was good… but I will still keep looking for the Daiya… (it just takes a trip to Whole Foods when I’m downtown – I’m never coming right home and I am super paranoid about cold items getting right into coldness). :)

I may have to make a Flat Basil… I don’t know why… maybe when I cannot take Basil with me somewhere? A small one I can keep in my handbag? What am I saying, my handbag is big enough for a LIFE SIZED Flat Basil… attached to a paint stick! :)

Dude, it’s like we’re on the same wavelength! That’s intense. =o I’ve since donned my foil cap, but let’s see if you can guess what I’m gonna eat for dinner now. -sends thoughts in your general direction-

Thanks for the shoutout, girl! <3

Everything looks so delicious! Is Vegan Gourmet expensive? I've never heard of it before, but it all looks so very yummy. Oh, and if you don't mind me asking, who makes the spinach/rice wrap? I want one! x)

Orange theme = sunny = happy. :D I dig it!
