samosa paarti !

After a weekend of eating those delicious salads, we are on to other tasty treats:

Thank you Gina !! She added these to my macaroon package… have I been talking about wanting to try the new flavors that much, that everyone knows? :) I loved the carrot cake and the chocolate chip brownie was so good… I have not tried the cookie dough yet. I think the carrot cake is my favorite.

I haven’t had a spinach smoothie in a while… I made a full blender for Jason and I, this was 2/3 of a BIG box of spinach, one cup blueberries, one cup coconut milk. NOM! The sun was shining this morning, so the photo is kinda cool.

I am also still Having Fun With Chickpeas. This was mashed chickpeas + Garlic Gold olive oil, wrapped with tomatoes and lettuce. Fresh and flavorful – I had two!

As I type I am munching on some COCONOLA – an awesome whole grain granola with almonds and pecans:

Alycia and I recently had a fun bloggie exchange, and this was one of the things she sent in her awesome package! Thank you, Alycia… everything was SO good and that was fun – I love receiving things in the mail! :)

As I said Monday, I was very excited that Aarti won The Next Food Network Star this weekend – can’t wait for her new show! I only learned in the final episode that she has been a food blogger for 2+ years! I spent each commercial break of the finale reading her blog. :)

So, in honor of her big win, using my gluten free pie crust recipe, I thought I’d make a samosa of sorts…

Filling:

1 cups chickpeas, mashed
2 tablespoons lime juice
two peaches
1 cup edamame

These were unconventional and tasty! I may make a ‘real’ samosa soon, with potatoes and spices. :)

I still haven’t seen the finale(I was driving home from the airport when it aired). I’ve read the FNHumor summary and that was basically good enough. I’m still heartbroken from Brad being voted off 3 episodes ago.

Those chocolate chip cookie dough Larabars are fantastic. What do you make your smoothies with? I don’t want anything dairy or soy based. Just curious.

all that is in this was spinach, blueberries and coconut milk :)

Your smoothie looks so good — and chocolatey, it is amazing how blueberries turn kind of brown in the blender (they do for me too!)

I am still on the search for the new larabars. Whole Foods is only 20 minutes away but somehow that seems like the other side of the world sometimes!

Love drinking out of mason jars, how southern of you, lol.

I eat chickpeas but don’t purchase them, unless they come smashed. Tasty recipe ideas.

One of these days I’ll try the new Larabar flavors! I don’t know anyone who has spotted them in Texas yet.

Love the Aarti Paarti! I was personally hoping for Brad to win, but I’m OK with Aarti, too.

I haven’t had any luck with those new flavors. My obsession with finding them is borderlining on unhealthy now. x)

Your samosas look so good! Can you offer me some advice, please? I tried your pie crust recipe today, and I failed. It crumbled apart — do you think it’s because I tried to use coconut oil in place of the butter? I will try again, of course, and follow it to a T this time. I’m stubborn like that. :D

oh no!! that must be it, although wow, coconut oil sounds like something I might try! :) maybe try coconut BUTTER? were you able to use the dough, like press it into a dish for a pie or something? let me know if you try again…

First of all, I love samosas, but I haven’t tried making them myself. I’d love to one day, and using a pie crust or filo dough would probably be a lot easier than following an exact recipe.

I haven’t tried any of the new flavors yet, but they sound pretty good. I just can’t spend so much money on a bar when I’d rather eat a scoop of nut butter straight from the jar.
