Our first night in Vegas, we had dinner reservations at Postrio. Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant at The Venetian is a new version of ‘contemporary american’ – a classic “bar and grill” in an updated setting.
There is a real Italy feel – with the tables in an ‘open air’ plaza cafe. There were performers and stilt walkers singing and dancing.
We asked if we could sit in an area that was more ‘indoors’. I wanted to be able to talk to my date…
Jason chose a great bottle of wine, a Chianti.
Chianti has always been one of my favorites, and it went well with our dinner choices.
Our starter - Sautéed Maryland Crab Cakes, Basil Aioli, Tomato Relish.
These were probably the best crab cakes I have ever had. I always say I want to create a crab cake that I make from crab, with a binder of more crab… I think these came close!
The presentation was perfect, too.
Jason chose the House Made Scialatielli, Beef & Sausage Bolognese, Basil, Pecorino.
This was great – the pasta was perfect.
I was having difficulty deciding – the halibut or the pasta. Our server told me the halibut dish was actually sea bass that night, so my choice was made!
Porcini Mushroom Ravioli, Wild Mushrooms, Parmesan, Parsley.
The chianti went well with this…
We did not have any room for dessert, but I could not NOT get dessert, right?

We came back to our room, and I relaxed in the fabulous bath tub, with a big glass of ice water, the television remote, and three of these cookies. Then another three…
