date night

Last night Jason and I went to my favorite place, Ten 01.
I was excited to try their fall menu.

Starters -

I completely forgot to photograph the amuse bouche – it was a yam tart with bacon crumbles – yum!

Smoked Salmon – black truffle dumplings, parisienne carrots and turnip, horseradish bavarois.

Gathering Together Farms Mixed Greens Salad – pickled shallots, grana padano crouton, lemon oil vinaigrette.

The salmon appetizer was amazing – the dumplings were melt in your mouth delicate and delicious, and the salmon was perfectly smoked and was great paired with the horseradish.

The salad was great, too – fresh and light with my favorite type of dressing – lemon + olive oil + salt + pepper. The pickled shallots were a strong flavor and the crouton was thin grana padano – you can see it on top – we broke it in pieces. This was the best salad I’ve had in a while.

Jason’s entree –

Cascade Natural New York Steak with potatoes sarladaise.

Those potatoes were fabulous – crispy with a creamy soft center and wonderful flavor.

My entree choice –

Black Cod with beluga lentils, lardons, shallots and a delicious sauce.

I have never had black cod before – I liked this and would most definitely order it again – of course, lardons make everything better and the sauce was truly amazing.

We have always loved the desserts at Ten 01, so we ordered one to go –

Pear fritters + crème anglaise

These were great – still warm and soft when we got home!

Perfect, once again. Thank You, Savannah – our Ten 01 experience was fabulous, as always!

The dessert looks awesome!
I need to remember to start writing down the names of the restaurants you go to so were aren’t just searching for somewhere to eat next time we’re in Portland!

Meat and potatoes kind of guy, even if they are fancy taters:)

Those pear balls of awesomeness sound amazing.

Looks like you made a solid dinner choice. My chicken nuggets were equally awesome, ok, maybe not:)

:)

I don’t mind the Fancy Airs if it comes with some Heart-y Earth.

Love you, Bettie!

you should definitely go… get on their mailing list – right now they have an “Erica On The Spot” Erica being their sommelier – they have some kind of weekly function with her… we didn’t do that, but want to some time.

Love date night, it’s stress free and a break from the kitchen.

The pictures of the Pear Fritters looks yummy, it reminded me of the beignets that I wanted from this restuarant by Disney.

you always go to the best restaurants!

question: how does one get over the weirdness of taking pictures of their food in public? that is one skill i haven’t learned yet. :P

I KNOW ! I cannot believe I scarfed that thing down so fast, and it was so delicious, I didn’t even THINK about the fact that I didn’t get a photo until… a couple hours later when I was uploading photos. It was SO good. Perhaps I need to recreate, THEN I’ll have a photo for you !! :D
