Genius!!!!
ha! Thanks! yeah, it kinda is...
oh I wanted to watch that but we don’t have cable!! I miss my food network shows. I love the sandwich, especially the jalapeno!!
we recently got rid of cable, and kept only the very base channels AND FN… we don’t get anything in between, I don’t even know how Jason managed to do that…! the jalapeno MAKES this sandwich…
Good looking sandwich. Mmm. My favorite food network chefs are Rachel Ray, Michael Simon, Mario Batali and Bobby of course. It’s about their cooking style.
I LOVE Mario Batali… having dinner at his restaurant for my birthday was one of THE BEST food I have ever eaten…
Mmm very nice – I love jalapenos and any kind of spice in my food and Tofutti is so good
tofutti is amazing… love it!
OMG LOVE this idea. I love jalapeno poppers. I started just making a few at a time in the toaster oven even. My fave FN star is Giada.
I love Giada… except when she is speaking perfect English and then will say one word with “Italian Accent”… makes me laugh. She also talks with her mouth full.
but her recipes are all awesome, and she’s got an ADORABLE baby!!
Yay for the Pioneer Woman!! Woo hoo! I don’t know if I could handle those peppers, but I’d sure love to try:)
if you cut out the whole middle, it would be less “heat” and just flavor…
Love this! That sandwich looks fantastic.
THANKS !!
It was fantastic! makes me say “OhMyGoshVegan” !!
Oh wow. That just looks like a dream.
As for my favorite Food Network chef? Alton Brown. Hands down, no contest. I think he’s smart and sexy.
I love Alton too! Smart *IS* sexy!
Oh man, delicious!
) I don’t really have a favorite Food Network chef, but I do have a strong dislike for Rachel Ray and Ina Garten. I sort of just want to sock them both in the face so they will be quiet! Harsh? Maybe.
My favorite Food Network shows are “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” and “Unwrapped” (The second one because I am a science and how-to nerd
I love “Triple D” (have you seen the Portland episodes? he’s been here 2 or 3 times…) I LOVE Unwrapped and also everything Alton Brown. and I completely understand RR, but Ina??? I love her. and all of her friends!
This looks delicious girl! I haven’t had a grilled cheese in ages, but I think that’s going to have to change:)
yes, Candice… you should have one, just like this. it was SO good.
now that looks delightful!
mmm, yep!! it was, absolutely. hope you are having a great day today, Lisa! XO
man i really wish i had cable!!! bet the episode was awesome last night. i kept up with her tweets to figure out what was going on lol.
That’s one good lookin sammich! My fave FN chef is definitely bobby flay.. he is dreamy (heheh)
hee!! everyone says he’s dreamy. he’s not BAD to look at, I suppose!
we love his cooking! and we went to MESA Grill a couple years ago… YUM. It was a fun episode – I can’t wait to see her blog about it!
I love soup! So warm and comforting, especially when it gets so dang cold here.
As for fave chef? I really like Chris Chris Cosentino. I don’t even know if he has a show anymore, but yeah. He’s a lot of fun to watch.
I like Cosentino also!! I love the Chef Vs City show… soup is a GOOD comfort / warming food… I LOVE it!
I think mac and cheese is a great comfort food but I don’t really eat it too much.
By the way, I didn’t see you in my spam folder so you are good on the healthy heddleston site
Oh and I really like Michael Symon since he’s from Cleveland and has many awesome restaurants!
I like him too!! Did you do a blog post sorta recently about his restaurant?? I saw somewhere… his menu looks GOOD and I like his stance on “no substitutions”… chefs blend flavors for a reason, I totally understand not wanting to mess with it!
thanks for checking on the spam… it isn’t happening EVERYWHERE, thank goodness!
mac & cheese is definitely comfort food… and I don’t eat it much either… kinda like this sandwich!
Wow, it seems really delicious! You’re great!
Sandwiches are one of my typical comfort and tv food. Maybe sometimes I skip the butter part because I’d like to be ‘light’, but I know well that butter or olive oil is what makes a sandwich a comfort food! XD
yes, I think that is what turns it into comfort food!!
I love sandwiches in general, even cold deli sandwiches and wraps…
Oh my gosh, this sandwich looks amazing!! Seriously, it’s making me hungry. Okay. My fave Food Network chef? Hard to choose. I love Alton Brown’s wit, but how can you not dream of being the Barefoot Contessa? And I’d like to have the Italian cooking skills (and looks) of Giada. Oh, and Bobby and Tyler are cuties. Haha, I could go on and on…
yes yes and yes, I agree with you on all of these points… and I’ll add Jason’s FN girlfriend, Nigella.
i adore cream cheese on grilled sammies, and i always forget to put it on. sooo good!
me too… in wraps, too… since I’m not a big mayo fan, cream cheese is perfect!
OMG, I think this is the best idea I have ever seen! I’m stopping by the grocery on the way home and making this tonight! You are amazing!
AWESOME Catherine!!
(and thanks!!) I hope you LOVE it… let me know!
Yum!! Totally going back to this recipe when I need a lunch idea
oh good !!
ENJOY !!
Bobby Flay = DREAMY haha I love him. And that sandwich looks amazing, I love jalepenos and who doesn’t love cheese, right?
we love B Flay at our house… I think I’ve given Jason all of his grilling cookbooks!
I know, I love jalapenos too!
That looks amazing! I want that!
hee!! you know, I’m still craving sushi in a HUGE way, since our conversation last night!!
I love all things jalapeno. And this sandwich??? YOWZA!
Mmm hmm… I KNOW !!
delicious.
You had me at the words “jalepeno popper.” I used to work at a pizza place that sold a deep fried cheese and jalepeno snack. They.were.amazing. I also weighed about 250 pounds when I worked there. Not kidding. Details, details.
I have a feeling, your rendition is somewhat healthier. :p
somewhat… but probably not TOO much. well, it’s not fried!! wee!
That looks really interesting! I’m not a huge fan of poppers only because I’m a spice wuss
My fav FN chefs are probably Alton, Aarti and ohh I hope Forgione wins Next Iron Chef!! He has a sexy voice hahaha.
I love Alton, and I agree – I want Forgione to win also!! Maybe you could cut out the middles of the pepper slices, then it’s just a little spicy flavor?
I’ll give you a million dollars to come up to Winterland and make me one of those.
It’s a serious comfort food day!
you’re on !!
yes… comfort food day here too… it was sunny this morning, now grey and rainy. perhaps another sandwich for lunch…
Oh goodness, that looks amazing. I’d probably use real cheese. This looks so good–my husband would kill for one of those, too.
you should make him one…
without telling him what it is !!
Wow this looks unreal. Jalapeno poppers are literally one of my favorite things in the world. I love the idea of this sandwich!
I know… I love them also… we made some GREAT ones on the grill this summer… SO good! I think this sandwich is kinda dangerous…
This looks so delicious!!! I love Bobby Flay — but other Food Network people I like: Sandra Lee (yep, I like her!), Alton Brown and Claire from 5 Ingred Fix.
There you are!! the one person who likes Sandra Lee!!
just kidding – she has an amazing story of perseverance in how she grew up, so in that I have a ton of respect for her!
and anyone that has “cocktail time” has to be awesome.
my ideal comfort food is cereal and milk. (see, this is why i’m not a food blogger.
) i don’t watch Food Network, but i LOVE Tom Colicchio. Top Chef is the greatest show of ALL TIME!!!
I *LOVE* Tom Colicchio. There is something about him...
omg. that looks…so good!!!!
i cannot eat gluten or cheese, so it’s kinda out. but god, i want it
no averie !! this is both gluten free AND vegan !!
Look at you miss creative!! I would’ve never thought to make a jalapeno popper sandwich but I am loving the idea!!
it was… SO Dang Good !
Yum, I’ve made Ree’s poppers before and they are SO good! I loved her suggestion to put them on a burger. And your idea to make them into their own sandwich?? Genius!
jalapeno poppers are one of my favorites… this sandwich was SO good…
wow, what an unbelievably awesome idea. this looks fantastic!
thanks!! it was pretty spectacular, I have to admit.
I made this my last meal of 2010.
Rockin’.
Spabettie FTW! Happy New Year, Kristina!
I just saw this again, and it made me SMILE
XXO!
yea!!! i’m making these tonight.
How do you cook the jalapenos?
hi Katrina! I’ll update the recipe, sorry – all I said was roasted… to roast any veggie, all I do is chop them (in this case, I cut them in long strips), toss with a bit of olive oil, place a piece of foil on a baking sheet, place jalapenos in middle of foil and bring all sides up, wrapping together like a pouch. cook at 350 degrees for about 23-28 minutes.
