I love to bring something to a party that is gluten free and vegan, and not tell anyone. These crackers and this spread? Nobody knew. Muaa haa haa…

sesame tomato crackers

1 1/2 cups brown rice flour
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 egg (Ener-G replacer)
5 tablespoons tomato paste
3 tablespoons water
sea salt, to taste

Combine in food processor. Knead into ball. Roll to desired thickness on a sheet of parchment. Transfer parchment to baking tray. Cut into squares using a pizza cutter or knife.
Bake @ 350 for 11-15 minutes.

sun-dried tomato basil spread

1 cup raw cashews
1/2 cup tofutti cream cheese
1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes
3 cloves garlic
sea salt, to taste

Pulse cashews and garlic in food processor – into a paste. Add cream cheese and blend completely. Chop sun-dried tomatoes, add and stir by hand. Salt to taste.

Do you have a recipe that nobody knows is healthy or vegan?

Love making healthy dishes for parties and not letting people in on the secret. When I used to, some people would steer clear because they thought ‘healthy’ meant not yummy. I’ve learned my lesson and let the food/taste speak for itself. Now they try them, love them, and I’m giddy inside. :)

me too!! :) “let the food speak for itself” … that’s perfect!!

i love tricking people and making a healthy GF or vegan dish that they think is not healthy. Just proves to show that there is so much flavor in that typ of cooking. RIght?! These look great, as usual.

YES !! that is exactly why. I think I’ve finally realized (nope, sometimes it still AMAZES me) that vegan cooking can be SO flavorful and delicious!!

I have a cheesecake that my dad and brother have no idea is vegan. Everyone else in the family does, so it’s kind of a fun little joke. If they knew, they would not eat it.

Mmm, cheesecake. :D

Yum as usual. For some reason, this post reminded me of the fact that Billy would not eat hummus before he met me. He didn’t really know what it was and said that the healthy connotation and the color of it was a turnoff. Now he’s obsessed. My family has been impressed with the yumminess of vegan cookies I’ve made. They can’t believe there’s no butter or eggs involved.

it’s funny how people think I COULDN’T POSSIBLY taste good if it’s healthy! say the word VEGAN and all bets are off! that’s why I love to feed people with flavorful vegan food – and MAYBE tell them after

I love those crackers! Baking my own crackers is one thing I really want to try this year. I have a bunch of recipes, but I think I’ll buy some rice flour at some point to try gluten free ones.

WOW! Now I know what I can put my hummus on top of! I’m getting quite tired of eating it on top of a corn tortilla… now if only I could find a great gluten free recipe for pretzels too, I would be all set.

I’ve never made my own crackers, I need to!! I had a recipe saved once but I don’t know what happened with that plan. #fail

I love to do the same thing – and bring something vegan or make a vegan dinner. Then when people are oohing and aahing over it I let them know. Once I did it w/ muffins and nobody believed me – I had to SHOW them the recipe. I wonder why there’s such a stigma that vegan = tasteless?

I’m being creepy and lurking around in your recipes (vegan tags) and saw this one. Besides EVERYTHING you make being amazing, it’s all so perfect looking too. Almost fake. But amazing.

I need to make these crackers.
