We ate so many wonderful foods on vacation. One thing I missed was lots of fresh produce in my kitchen, and my daily juicing.
I immediately went grocery shopping when we returned home.
I filled my cart full without leaving the produce section.
Perfect bananas, lots of avocados.
Vibrant peppers!
In fact, I only bought two things outside the produce section.
I bet someone can figure out what these are for…
Bringing all of this freshness home made me very happy.
Then I made this.
refreshing post-vacation detox
serves one
1 grapefruit, peeled
1 lemon, peeled
1 – inch piece ginger
1 orange bell pepper
5 carrots
7 celery
Juice and enjoy! I sure did.
An hour later I made another.

Whee, here I am again!
And I loved so hard on the dog vid!
Aaaaaahhhhh, home sweet home, and your own kitchen welcoming you with open arms and all its fabulous FRESH treats! Is there anything better?
yes, home sweet home and Sweet Sweet Basil Pup!
he had a great time at my parents, a constant Long Dog Party with their two doxies, but I always miss him so! I think this is the longest vacation away from him we’ve had!
just had my morning juice – delicious freshness!
Ahem, I mean I *laughed* so hard! These are my favorite mistakes – switching word that sound the same but are spelled differently. Like love and laugh above. Mail and male. Peace and pieces. (Yeah, I cut my apples into peaces, very piecefully!
)
I love this too! fun ‘mistakes’ – you loving so hard on the pup video did not at all seem wrong! <3
I can’t believe I’m the first one spamming around here today!
Chai nut butter? You better believe I’m checking that out next! We do the same thing after a long vacation – hit up the store and buy as much produce as humanly possible! Everything looks amazing, especially those avocados. I think I’m on a major avocado kick right now.
when am I NOT on an avocado kick?!!?
it was REALLY fun to unpack all of this wonderful produce… I ate a pear on the drive home!!
wüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüt!
Now enough baloney, and back to serious business. 8) See you later!
my friend, it is clear you didn’t get enough sleep! I was JUST talking to you and now here you are again!
thanks for all the love, it makes me wag and Basil smile!
All of that produce looks so delicious and fresh! Wow — I need some of that in my life!
oh, I needed it too, Holly!! that first fresh juice was SO good…
I love going to the grocery store and restocking right after a vacation.
me too!! I was particularly excited – thinking about grocery shopping on our drive home!!
I miss juicing too when I don’t do it for a few days!
I tried grapefruit once and it was a little too tart for me – love the other juice ingredients!
grapefruit is one of my favorites, but I love tart!
we were able to find juice most mornings for breakfast, but there’s really nothing like FRESH, you know?
All that produce looks gorgeous
Here in lame TN, the produce isn’t very good at all
Makes it harder to get the proper amounts in! Glad you had a nice vacation!
thank you, Stefani – we had a nice break! I’m sorry produce isn’t as bountiful there – hearing this always makes me feel SO incredibly thankful for what we DO have here… especially this time of year with many farmers markets. I wish I could SEND it to you!!
Thanks, girl
I just wish we were elsewhere
That is our ultimate plan..save up and move away! It’s very hard to be gluten-free here! They have next to nothing that is gluten-free and what little they do have is far too expensive.
oh no – that’s just as bad as lack of produce!
I hope you are able to fulfill your move wish soon – what areas would you like to end up?
Thank you! Yes, it has been difficult but I am doing it, which is all that matters at this point
We are hoping to eventually end up in California somewhere but in the short term we are thinking maybe Phoenix. I was out there when I was 16 and loved it and it is more affordable than California, but our ultimate goal is to end up in California…well, unless we end up moving back to London LOL
Fruits & veggies make me so happy
P.S- If you do make that chai nut butter, feel free to make a batch for me
haaa – okay, Gina, will do!
That is an adorable top! And I’m super impressed…. I never have the energy to do anything after unloading all my groceries. Let alone making them look all pretty in a lightbox haha. I just throw all the bags into a giant ball, slam my cabinets/fridge then move on. Can you tell I always come home with too much!?
ha – don’t be TOO impressed, this was all just out of the bags onto my counter!
I do know what you mean about the giant bag ball, though! when I have more than my reusables, I ask for plastic because we use them for going on walks with Basil… you know…
and I have one bag full of all the others. it’s big.
hope you are having a FABULOUS weekend!!
love that top! so pretty!
Guava Manchego Empanadas –wow!
the PB and chickpeas…hmm, lemme guess: dessert hummus?!
and welcome home! love that you smoothied and juiced right away!
isn’t it a great top?? too bad it’s probably insanely expensive.
GREAT guess, Averie!! I made Christin’s (Purple Bird..) hummus cookie balls. YUM!
we had a nice vacation AND it’s so nice to be home… and reunited with my juicer – ha!
Thank you for coming to my blog! I don’t know how you stumbled upon it tonight…but am glad you did…
Ahh – fresh indeed! Just lovely.
Hi Jenn! I’ve actually been reading for a bit – added you to my reader a month ago or so – cannot recall now where I found you but I’m glad I did!
I’ve just returned from vacation, so I hadn’t been commenting much anywhere the last couple weeks! I hope I didn’t add to confusion – and yes, the extra could go into savings too! good luck with it!
Your post title is perfect! Fresh indeed.
You’ll never believe the first thing I thought of when I saw the peanut butter and chickpeas … soup! Pete and Kelli over at No Gluten, No Problem just made soup with those ingredients. Pete said it was great!
Welcome home! That detox juice sure looks lovely.
xo,
Shirley
oh, once again thank you Shirley! that soup sounds amazing and I’m going to hunt it down right now!!
I used them for cookies… will post soon, they are SO good!
I spy with my little eye… baked dessert hummus ball ingredients!!!
YES INDEED!! I have made TWO batches so far! good lord, lady, they are fabulous! *posting soon! XO
oh man I need that detox juice right
YEAH… after our two weeks of vacationing I needed it too!! I was craving fresh juice BAD !
mmm, yummy! You’ve got some great goodies for both savory and sweet juices – love it!
And with the chickpeas and pb I thought blondie brownies – no?
I know – I have been LOVING the fresh juice since we’ve been home! it’s just not the same, although we did have a delicious orange juice on our Napa mornings… the chickpeas and pb are for AMAZING cookies… I will post soon!
IM OBSESSED WITH MIU MIU!!!! No lie…when I save my pennies its always spent in that store!!!!
me too… so creative and unique. one of my favorite pair of (HIGH) heels is MIU MIU
yes, that is what matters – good for you! making that transition is hard enough, but it makes all the difference!!
