Happy Holidays!
I love superfoods. My current favorites are yacon (syrup or dried root) and mulberries. I have been using some of the ‘standard’ superfoods for ages, from starting each morning with blueberries in my spinach smoothie to my favorite staple, quinoa. I cook with ingredients like lucuma, maca and flax often, and I am drawn to the natural flavors.
I have been loving the new Superfood Cuisine cookbook by natural food chef Julie Morris. This guide to cooking with superfoods has more than one hundred recipes, accompanied by beautiful full color photos.
More than a cookbook, this is an essential primer for those wanting to learn more about superfoods. A detailed section “The New Superfood Pantry” highlights nutritional benefits, flavor profiles and recommended uses. I also love the “Superfood Substitution Cheat Sheet”, because, well, I sometimes run out of something and then forget to replace it before I need it.
The first few recipes I have tried have been incredibly flavorful – the Black Bean Hemp Patties (pictured above)
and the Lucuma Ice Cream Cupcakes
This giveaway is for a copy of the Superfood Cuisine cookbook, and I am including packages of my favorite superfoods – lucuma and maca powders, yacon root, sun dried mulberries (I snack on these all the time, they are so sweet!).

Chia, flax, blueberries and quinoa are always in my normal rotation so I guess they’re my favorites, but probably more because I know what to do with them whereas lucuma and maca powders are completely foreign!

For superfoods, I tend toward the simple, easy to find ones: kale, blueberries, apple cider vinegar. I’m planning to get myself some maca root powder and make Julie’s hot maca drink, though– maybe with some added chai spices!
