dark chocolate dipped corn chips

Will you be watching George Clooney the Academy Awards this weekend?

If so, I have a quick and naughty treat for you. Whether you’re just sitting on the couch at home, having people over, or going to a viewing party, these will be a hit.

Heck, even if you could not care less about what Oscar is up to, you should make these.

Too easy to really be a recipe, this is what I did:

dark chocolate dipped corn chips

vegan, dairy and gluten free*

9 ounces chocolate (3 Endangered Species Dark bars)
1/2 bag Fritos® Scoops!®
gluten free + vegan sprinkles
baking pan that fits in fridge
silpat, foil or parchment sheet

Line baking pan with silpat, foil or parchment. In saucepan over medium heat, melt chocolate. Dip chips into melted chocolate, top with sprinkles, set on parchment. Alternatively, you can spoon chocolate inside the ‘scoop’ of the chip (see chip in the right corner of photo below). Set baking pan in fridge to set chocolate.

These are fantastically delicious – a new twist on that sweet and salty combination we all love.

Are you watching the Oscars? Who are your favorites?

Ok, I’ll confess that I think Fritos are the nastiest bagged “chip” there is. But you have me intrigued with the dark chocolate coating. Chocolate does make everything better so I’d be willing to give these a try! ;)

you might like them this way? go to a deli type place that sells the small bags… and get one chocolate bar… :)

In high school I had this obsession with eating Fritos and M&Ms together. I’ve stopped eating that exact combination but I totally get this post! I want to try something like this again!

I love this!! You’re never going to believe this but I’ve been wanting to make potato chip cookies for awhile…crushed chips baked into cookies. Then I saw Deb/Smitten do it and figured if I did it, it would be old hat. And then I saw another friend do Doritos Brownies. And have seen another couple girls do chocolate potato chips…and I LOVE that you used Fritos AND sprinkles. This has got to be my perfect pairing. YUM!!!

The Artist was the best movie I’ve seen this year. “Drive” was excellent too but I feel like it got snubbed at the oscars this year.

Totally unrelated question: did frito lay sponsor this post? I have a soft spot for fritos.

no sponsor here, I just happen to like a Frito now and then, and I also like using trademark symbols ;)

I have not seen The Artist yet, but look forward to it. I want Hugo to win a lot, and George Clooney also…

Party food! The boys would totally be all over this. We actually still don’t have cable, but I feel like we may end up getting it fairly soon…

The hus and I were JUST talking about Fritos yesterday. This is probably amazing — such a fan of sweet and salty.

I do not care about Oscars (or any awards shows for that matter… don’t get me started…) but the fritos look AWESOME. The only thing that would be better to cover in chocolate would by Clooney himself.

I’m not a big fritto fan, but Jason is and would flip over those. How fun would they be for a kid’s party too!
