Cacao!
Does that make you think of Portlandia too?
Today I bring you a dessert that is perfectly sweet, healthy, and comes together in five minutes. I have made these into round bites, and I have pressed them into a pan and cut them like traditional brownies.
As is, they are raw – if you don’t care about that part and want to up the level of decadence, you can coat these bites in dark chocolate, or frost the brownie bars.
As is, they are supremely delicious.
raw hazelnut brownie bites
makes 20-24 pieces, depending on size
dairy, egg, soy and gluten free, vegan, raw
1 cup hazelnuts
1/3 cup cacao powder
7 ounces dried figs
1/4 cup agave
water as needed
In food processor, pulse hazelnuts to a fine crumb. Add cacao powder, combine completely. Add figs and agave, process until combined. Add water if needed* until a dough ball forms.
*In making this recipe three times, once more water was needed, two times the dough ball formed without water.

i like your bites. that’s a good combo right there! i’m a hazelnut cocoa fan all the way. how would you frost them?
I dipped a couple of these in melted chocolate (not raw anymore, then…) and let them set like a truffle. Mmm. the brownie bars I made a cacao agave mixture and poured/spread it over the bars.
LOVE figgys. This is a great, quick recipe!
Portlandia kind of creeps me out, lol.
I love Portlandia – but the Cacao scene, yes, THAT one freaks me out. eep.
While I’m normally not a big chocolate fan, I think these are something I’d love to try out. I love hazelnuts for starters AND figs. As always, thanks for sharing such amazing recipes!
you are so welcome! you could leave out the chocolate, these would be great without it – I love figs in these kind of raw snacks!
mmm
I can’t imagine a quicker way to satisfy my chocolate cravings!
right? these were VERY quick!
Now the real question is, who doesn’t think of Portlandia when they hear the word “cacao”?
These little guys sound amazing! I love the chocolate and fig combination.
haaa, probably!
I am loving figs again lately – using them in place of dates a lot – they go well with chocolate!
If it’s got figs, I gotta try it!
I can bring you some…
Recipe looks beautiful – just curious as to how many this makes?
Thank you!
hi Georgia, thank you! this recipe makes about 20 pieces, depending on the size. enjoy!
