sweet and salty fudge

This is the most amazing fudge, and I felt I needed to share it with you. First of all, it has a secret fun ingredient that is just… Mmm. Second, it really took me about 10 minutes. Maybe twelve, because I miscalculated and had to cut my parchment three times.

This fudge? Worth it. Worth anything you have to do to get to this fudge. You may already have all the ingredients on hand, you lucky duck. Seriously. Good. Stuff.

sweet and salty fudge

I followed Lindsay’s recipe, which she shared from Just a Pinch. My version is both vegan and gluten free, using coconut milk (that makes this taste so good), a gluten free version of the secret ingredient, and dairy free butter.

I poured a semi sweet chocolate (yes, it is dairy free) over each piece, and topped that with coarse sea salt.

Heaven.

Did I mention you probably have all the ingredients now? You lucky duck.

To see if you can indeed make this fudge immediately, get the recipe at Lindsay’s.

If I haven’t already convinced you this fudge is awesome, she has a 6 point list of reasons why it is…

easy peanut butter fudge

Happy Thursday, you lucky duck.

Yes, please! I love the secret ingredient, especially because I love sweet and salty in any form, especially peanut butter and chocolate. Plus saltine toffee is like CRACK. ;)

Guess who is a lucky duck????

ME! I have all of the ingredients, and it kind makes me want to shout out “BINGO” but I am pretty sure the people in my office would think I was a little strange…so I will just say it quietly.

Thanks for sharing such a yummy treat. Happy Thursday to you Kristina :)

Salted or unsalted butter?

Reply

21 Kristina Sloggett March 2, 2013 at 1:20 pm

hi Alleria,

I used a dairy free butter which does contain a small amount of salt. while the original recipe does not specify, I think either butter would work in this case.

Good grief that looks good!

Ok, I’m having a bad night. I’m seriously bummed I’m not coming to see you in a few days. Tony is now gone to Seattle and with all of the stress this week of getting him ready, the let down of me not coming there has really hit. I miss you and hope all is well. Big hugs to you my friend. You are always in my thoughts. xoxo

DANG IT, I know :( boo, I was so SO looking forward to this week.

I miss you too – I feel so out of touch these days (although it was nice to chat a bit this morning!) :) I hope your weekend with the boys continues to be fun – big hugs to you too! XO

I have a complete & total weakness for saltines. Sometimes I just crave plainness and they are so spectacularly plain. Salty & plain. Adding them to fudge sounds so amazing–kind of like adding pretzels to chocolate, I guess!

I agree about saltines – so so good (and spectacularly plain – I love that description!). and this fudge? kinda spectacularly amazing ;)

Kristina,
What did you use for the GF version of the saltines? Is it a store bought product or something you whipped up yourself? I can’t recall ever having seen a GF saltine. . . Please correct me if I’m wrong; I’d LOVE to try something like that. :)

hi Kristina! I used the Glutino “table cracker” and while nothing gf will be just like a saltine, these taste good. Schar makes a cracker that many like as well, but I think it has a strange taste to it, almost fishy?
