sesame-orange crispy cauliflower

This Sunday is daylight savings time. I could not be more ready. Are you ready? Are you so excited? I am - smiling’s spring is my favorite!

Yes, we lose an hour, but it is just the beginning of longer days, warmer days. Soon there will be bi-weekly trips to all of my favorite Farmers Markets, when the vendors in Portland have more than just cauliflower…

Good thing I love my cauliflower, and continue to come up with new ways to enjoy it.

sesame-orange crispy cauliflower

I have made this sesame-orange crispy cauliflower three times in as many weeks, It is one of my new favorite things, and it is bright and light and crispy good. I have served this as a side dish with a new dal recipe, as a warm salad topper, and as a dippable appetizer at our Academy Awards shindig:

We’re talking about seasonal eating this month – please go visit Attune to see my sesame-orange crispy cauliflower.

Mmmmmmm, this looks wonderful! I’ve had a huge appetite for cauliflower recently (it’s one of those veggies I don’t eat regularly but then suddenly crave like crazy) – probably due to the first signs of spring outside?

I hope you’re fine! Thinking about you and your dad from over here …

I know how that is – broccoli is one I eat constantly, cauliflower is one I get cravings for…

thank you dear Kath – Dad is … okay. positive and smiling, at least <3

I have never been more excited to lose an hour! Can’t wait for the longer days. I’ve already notice that it’s light at 6 pm and even at 6:15 am now. Perfect for the runner in me I suppose. And this recipe? MMMMM

I am embarrassingly excited for daylight savings time. This winter weather needs to go! I need sunlight.

Cauliflower never gets old for me. Such a cool idea to stab it with toothpicks for an app!

I am so excited about daylight savings too – makes training so much more fun when it’s still light after work! I still don’t understand why we ever stop DST – I want it all year round!

Hooray for cauliflower! It’s so underrated (well, for good reason, considering watery boiled unseasoned childhood cauliflower) but SO GOOD when you cook it well. Crispy crusted cauli sounds so good, especially with sesame oil! I bet it would be good to add some sesame seeds for a little extra crunch… :)

I think I was lucky enough to not have experienced too many boiled veggies growing up – thankful to not have those memories, but I do hear about them from others a lot! this kind of recipe could change that… :)

ME TOO! all morning as the sun came up, I was saying aloud to the dogs, “tomorrow it will only be SIX AM when it is this light out, yay!” they are unimpressed…

I always get excited about spring, but I feel like I’m even more excited this year. This winter has seemed unusually long and bleak. Although I will always have a deep love of cauliflower–usually I just roast it with salt & pepper, but I’m going to have to try making this next time!

we have had a pretty mild winter here in Portland, and I am STILL looking forward to spring ;) I always get up early, and this morning, as soon as the sun starting coming up, I’ve been looking at the clock saying “this time tomorrow it will only be SIX AM!” the dogs are unimpressed… ;)

I can’t wait for spring. I love to see the sun return and watch everything slowly turn green again, and then I can go outside and dig it the dirt. :)
Cauliflower happens to be one of my favorite veggies. I love this concept,

I love cauliflower and am always trying to find new things to do with it – as a replacement for potatoes. Thanks for another great idea!

Kristina,

Regarding the recipe (I would’ve posted on Attune’s site but I don’t have an FB account), do you use toasted sesame oil, the dark kind?

Reply

24 Kristina Sloggett March 14, 2013 at 9:39 pm

hi Kristina! YES, thank you for asking, I meant to specify that, it is the toasted sesame oil, it has that great flavor! other sesame oils don’t have that flavor…
