Double Chocolate Truffle Skulls are a spooky sweet treat for any Halloween party! short and simple ingredient list, easy to make!

Here in Portland, it feels like it's been Halloween for a week already. Last week we had two parties to dress up for, and we have been seeing friends and other Portlanders dressing up since ... last Wednesday, really.

Maybe some of those were not costumes - this is Portland after all.

The dachshunds have also been dressing up - new costumes this year include Basil as a pirate and Rosemary as a hula girl - complete with grass skirt. So darn cute, those two.

Are you going to a party, dressing up, giving out candy at home? We usually stay home on Halloween night, handing out candy and making sure the dogs are not freaked out. Last year we put on our horse heads to answer the door - that was a riot.

You know a holiday that revolves around candy has me in the kitchen - and you know one of my favorites is a filled chocolate. While I sometimes get wild with the flavors (raspberry jalapeno chocolates, lavender cream truffles and ginger wasabi chocolates are some of the bolder choices), this year my main Halloween truffle was the crowd pleaser - a dark chocolate truffle.

Do not let the fact that these truffles have a total of two ingredients fool you - they are incredibly decadent and rich.

but yeah. two ingredients. kinda cool.

A very good morning to you from a little bit rainy Dominican Republic!!
How can I thank you enough for these awesome Halloween Treats?? Liv has already emailed me to ask for molds for every holiday and has planned these beauties for our Thanksgiving dinner. And since they are dairy free my son can enjoy them too. We are always so happy to find a dairy free recipe that we all love.

Thanks you, thank you, thank you!!!

Your skulls rock! I wish I could put them on sticks and/or spike them with Frangelico, just cuz I'm feeling hazelnutty. 🙂

well, that's why you always buy GOOD stuff you'd like! just don't buy it too early, or you might have to go buy more. don't ask me how I know this.

I LOVE the hula girl. So cute!
We used to have hundreds of trick or treaters in my mom's neighborhood, but it's died down the past couple of years because a) kids grow up and b) more parents are taking them to indoor things (lame, but I guess I get it.) Unfortunately, we're supposed to get two inches of rain today, so I feel bad for the kids!

Anyway, fun skulls! I would totally hit up your house 😉

we live in a neighborhood that really has very few kids (we chose well...), but somehow we get a huge amount on Halloween. it's fun, though - for two people who say we do not want kids, we do love other people's kids. 🙂
