I had a different post on deck for today’s Wellness Wednesday, but am sitting here writing this one in real time because… that’s how I’m rolling today.
It has been another extremely stressful and emotional week, for sure. I am exhausted, and really, nothing has even happened yet. After a short night of sleep and a busy day yesterday, all I wanted to do was go to sleep at 4:pm. I had a dinner date with two girlfriends, then class to go to later.
I rallied, I picked myself up, had an extra shot of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and aminos, and was out the door!

Sitting with the girls was not only a therapeutic and much needed break, we laughed and smiled and talked and talked and talked. We enjoyed fresh juice and wonderful raw food for dinner, and I was thankful to be there.
Right now for me, Wellness means staying healthy while under extra stress. That means making sure I am taking my supplements (I have that vitamin post coming soon!), increasing things like zinc and vitamin c and more of my favorite remedy, vibrant fresh juice and veggies.

Wellness also means choosing a few more hours in a day, when you get to spend those hours with the rich company of friends. I came home and relaxed to unwind and catch up with Jason (I call him my soother), and went to sleep early. I slept in until 5:30 today, and I honestly do feel refreshed.
…spending some down time with these two? Very therapeutic.

How do you stay healthy during stress?

The minted part of this juice comes from the twins, after they told me it’s their favorite juice addition. I’ve made mint smoothies before, and I’ve even added fresh mint to cookies, but I’ve never juiced it.
Trying to keep the last bites of summer within my grasp, I am buying up all the berries I see. I even pulled a last minute swerve into a roadside fruit stand yesterday, and bought these incredibly flavorful blackberries.
Taste like summer.

After chatting with the fine folks at the fruit stand, I immediately came home to make this juice. On my way into the house, I grabbed some mint.
minted berry grape juice
serves two
1 box fresh blackberries
3 large bunches grapes
5-6 leaves fresh mint
Juice and garnish with a couple ice cubes for a refreshing afternoon infusion. Cool and naturally sweet, I think summer has a few more of these in store.

Today I am thrilled Carla asked me to guest post – I am talking juice and reviewing some of the basics – go visit MizFit and see a couple new recipes as well.
Do you like fresh mint? How do you use it?

Since I first tried garlic in my daily juice, I’ve been adding it nearly every day (go here to see the benefits of garlic). If you like garlic, you will like how it enhances the flavor of juice! I am loving it!
My afternoon juice (my fourth juice by 2:00pm – I’ve been up since 5:45) was all veggie and animated by the garlic!

garlic vegetable juice
1 clove fresh garlic
5 carrots
1 large tree broccoli
1 cucumber
1 large bunch kale
Peel garlic and juice along with the rest of the veggies. I juice the garlic first, so the remaining veggies will clear the garlic aroma from the juicer.
Enjoy!

Invigorating! I don’t even mind that I will be tasting garlic the remainder of the day.
